This is a book that I recommend to virtually all new Moms, and I think it's particularly relevant if you've been out in the "working world" prior to becoming a mother. Jill Savage offers practical, godly advice on dealing with the pressures of raising a family. The day to day drudgery can really wear you down, but she encourages us to look at the bigger picture. I especially liked the idea of writing a personal mission statement - it's good to remember that I'm not just a maid, but here to minister to my children by meeting their needs and help equip them for their futures.
She also has another great book: Is There Really Sex after Kids? No matter how fabulous our marriages are, I don't think anyone is truly prepared for the toll that children take on the husband-wife relationship. I know it's much easier for me to focus on my children's needs than my husband's - probably because they're the ones crying and pulling on my pant legs! But it is so important to remember that I'm first called to submit to and respect my husband (Eph 5:24, 33)
