This article (warning - it's long!) is specifically geared toward home schooling, but I think it's full of great truths for all Christian families. I eappreciated the reminder that while we ARE responsible to train our children, they are not just wet clay to be shaped - they each have their own distinct personalities, gifts, etc. that need to be taken into account. I also liked the statement: Intimidating children into subjection merely gains outward compliance. Winning their hearts means gaining greater opportunity to influence their values. And as always, I need to remember to focus on their HEARTS, not just their behaviors (especially easy to do because that's what others see and what we as parents are often judged upon).
